No live person watches you take a TestGorilla assessment. TestGorilla uses automated anti-cheating measures during the test, and the employer reviews the results afterward. That is a different setup from a live proctor who watches and intervenes.
What TestGorilla monitors
TestGorilla's help centre lists these measures:
- Webcam snapshots at a fixed interval (the current help article says every 15 seconds; other TestGorilla pages say every 30)
- Full-screen tracking
- Tab switching detection
- Webcam status, including whether the camera is turned off
- Developer tools detection
- IP-based location
- Paste detection
If you leave full screen, the current question is hidden until you return.
What is not recorded
The listed measures are snapshots and event detection. A standard TestGorilla test does not run a continuous screen recording of your desktop.
TestGorilla stores images, video and audio for up to 6 months.
If the camera is turned off, TestGorilla logs that as an event.
What employers can switch off
Employers can turn the snapshot feature off. ID verification and camera snapshots are optional for the employer, so two candidates can sit the same test under different settings.
Question sets are drawn so that no two test instances are identical.
What employers see
The employer sees the test results and the flagged events. TestGorilla says its measures flag anomalies and do not determine guilt.
Tips for the test
Stay in full screen for the whole session. Keep the camera on and your face visible. Use one tab and one window. If you need a break, finish the question first.
If your question is about the screen, read whether TestGorilla records your screen.
For employers
Snapshots and flags do not measure whether someone can do the job. Score the test output against your own rubric, and score candidates consistently. AI Candidate Evaluation gives you that structured comparison.
